Upon leaving a supply store, on a 90 + degree day in August, I was securing cargo in the bed of my pick-up truck, lost my balance, and fell from approximately six and one-half feet, landing on the pavement… My head, back, and left elbow to shoulder were the first points to impact. I was unconscious in the parking lot for several minutes until a passerby saw me and reported my situation to the store employees inside. The store employees responded to my location as I was just regaining consciousness and assisted me into the store. EMS arrived…
Upon arrival at the hospital, my condition worsened from “treatment and tests” administered by the hospital staff. My pain level maintained a solid 10 out of 10 while I was placed on and off a back board… I was asked to assist the nurses by pushing and pulling then once again to assist in the move to a CT scan that painfully resembled the ride over the railroad tracks but far much longer duration. Having a neck brace installed that was two sizes too small as well as out of rotational position, (15 degrees), only added neck damage to my list of injuries. It was not until I was ready to be discharged, and only after my request, that the lacerations to my head and elbow was attended to. The only positive offering from the hospital was sadly, the disposable vomit bags they gave me. I knew I was at the hospital because the sign on the building contained the word; unfortunately, it did not contain the medical professionals normally found at this type of facility. My discharge documents only contained a tutorial about tripping hazards within the home as well as fact sheets for the prescribed medicines.
Having already been a patient, I scheduled my follow-up appointment with Alternative Healing Clinic and Natural Healing Center of Myrtle Beach. Dr. Jin Li Don identified a concussion at first look and then examined me and asked me what happened and made her evaluation… She and her staff immediately began a multitude of processes to relieve the pain, mitigate any further damage, and begin the healing process.
I learned that I had a concussion, some rib and spine damage, muscle inflammation, and damage to cranial nerve #10 with additional injuries to my leg, ankle, calve, and stomach — all undetected at the hospital.
I immediately received acupuncture and cupping, followed by a series of mild hyperbaric oxygen and vivatech treatments…. My conditions were closely monitored and cranial sacral chiropractic techniques were performed as my conditions allowed… Every step was thoroughly explained, procedurally, for what cause and the desired outcome. Dr. Brown, who worked in unison with Dr. Dong, guided me through the healing and rehabilitation process every step of the way. The high degree of attention to detail as well as sense of urgency given by the doctors conveyed to me that the treatment plan was for my injuries and not a text book plan.
I credit my successful rehabilitation from my fall and experience at the emergency center room to Dr. Dong, Dr. Brown, and the staff at Alternative Health Clinic and Natural Healing Center of Myrtle Beach for their excellence in the health care field that is nothing short of perfection. I do have one regret that I went to the hospital emergency room and not Alternative Health Clinic and Natural Healing Center of Myrtle Beach first.
