Fibromyalgia is the most common musculoskeletal condition, second to osteoarthritis. Characteristics of Fibromyalgia include widespread muscle and joint pain, tender-trigger points at certain parts of the body, fatigue, sleep problems, and depression (WebMD, 2005).
Fibromyalgia is most common in women between the ages of 25 and 60. Women are 10 times more likely to catch this disease than men. There are over 12 million Americans who suffer from Fibromyalgia today (WebMD, 2005).
Fibromyalgia causes you to ache all over. As stated above, you may experience crippling fatigue, moodiness or depression, tender points on the body may be painful to touch, and you may also experience disturbances in deep-level or restful sleep, due to achiness around the neck, shoulders, back and hips (WebMD, 2005).
In addition, your muscles may feel overworked or pulled, even if you haven’t done any exercise. Sometimes, your muscles may twitch, burn, or have deep stabbing pains (WebMD, 2005).
Other symptoms of Fibromyalgia may also include:
In order to make accurate diagnosis, doctors rely on comprehensive physical exams and your medical history. They may run specific blood tests — complete blood count (CBC), for example. Doctors may also ask to run tests for chemicals, such as glucose, which causes similar problems to those caused by Fibromyalgia.
Thyroid tests may also be done. An under-active thyroid can cause problems such as fatigue, muscle aches, weakness, and depression, which are all similar to the symptoms of Fibromyalgia (WebMD, 2005).
Unfortunately, there are no cures for Fibromyalgia. Traditional treatments, i.e. medicines/drugs have shown to be effective, but there are also safe, drug-free alternative methods such as therapeutic massage, exercise, acupuncture, and relaxation therapies, that has helped manage symptoms of Fibromyalgia. We at Natural Healing Center of Myrtle Beach, utilize these and other alternative practices in dealing with Fibromyalgia.
Another alternative that we offer is a technology called Resonant/High Frequency Therapy. Resonant Therapy uses specific, gentle frequencies to affect dis-eased cells in the body. By killing the microbes inside sick, damaged cells, Resonant Therapy allows diseased cells to revert back to healthy, normal cells. Below is a video testimonial from one of our patients, Beth, who has received Resonant/ High Frequency Therapy. We welcome you to inquire your concerns of Fibromyalgia and any other health questions are concerns you may have. The Natural Healing Center of Myrtle Beach is here to partner with in your quest of creating a more happier and healthier you.
