If you’re reading this article, it’s apparent that you’re ready to take control of your health and wellbeing; to detox your body is a great place to began the process. There are many health benefits to gain from detoxing your body. We will observe some of these benefits, and then look at ways to detox.

Benefits of Detoxing Your Body

  • Boost your immune system – When you detox your body, it allows your organs to function within its natural order, better absorbing nutrients, and overall becoming stronger to fight off disease.
  • Boost your energy – After, and sometimes during the detox process, many have reported feeling more energetic — this is due to cutting out sugars, trans fats, saturated fats, and caffeine.
  • Weight loss – If you do not maintain healthy eating habits after detox, weight loss could be short term. In addition to healthy eating, a good tactic to sustain your weight loss would be to use the extra energy you’ve gained from detox to exercise and keep the weight off.
  • Promotes clearer thinking – Many have reported clearer thinking after detoxification. Again, this can be credited to removing heavy sugars and fat-filled foods from the diet.
  • Anti-aging benefits – Because detoxing the body reduces the amount of free-radical damage done to the body, you will began to look younger, feel younger, and even increase your chances to live longer.
  • Clear, smooth skin – Detoxing your body will leave you with clearer skin, but during the process, you may experience itchy or patchy skin before it gets better.  Also, due to toxins being released through the skin, people with acne may, in the beginning, notice more acne.
  • Improved sense of wellbeing – Completing a detox will leave you feeling great, with an overall vigor for life.

Water

Perhaps the most important aspect of detoxing is drinking water — not just regular ole water in general — but pure, clean, drinkable water. Our water supply has been so contaminated with toxins such as toxic prescription drug residue, fluoride, chlorine — and even radiation — that we have to be specific about how we acquire it. Many think that drinking colas, energy drinks, teas, etc. gives us sufficient enough water, but these drinks are also toxic; you want to drink pure water. The best water to drink is distilled and alkaline water. Since distilled water loses minerals you can add organic apple cider vinegar to it. Apple cider vinegar restores minerals to distilled water.

Another option for clean drinking water is alkaline water. Alkaline water helps raise your body’s pH from acidic to alkaline, eliminating free radicals, creating an environment where cancer and other illnesses cannot survive. Alkaline water also helps the body absorb minerals, such as calcium, magnesium, potassium, and sodium.

How to Detox Your Body

One thing to keep in mind as you detox your body is the cleaner your diet, the better your results. Nutritional intake, as well as water, is very crucial to detox your body.  You should, by all means, go through the process as “organic” as possible. At Natural Healing Center, we recommend a 3 to 7 day detox (you can do more, if desired) in which you should do the following:

  • Choose a juicer – If you do not plan to purchase fresh juice everyday from a whole food or vegan deli of some sort, you’re going to have to invest in a juicer — choosing one can be somewhat daunting. According to Dr. Mercola, the Norwalk, or another single or twin gear juicer is going to be the most effective type juicer to look for. You can find reasonable deals on eBay and Craigslist.
  • Juice (green) – We recommend juicing 4 times a day. According to Mercola, juicing allows you to get vast amounts of nutrition, which is embedded in vegetables, into your body. In addition, Mercola also states that you do not want to throw fruit into your juice diet unless it’s a very low fructose fruit, such as lemons and limes or, if you’re only consuming between 15 and 25 grams of fructose a day, it would be fine to use other fruits.
  • Vegan Diet – When detoxing your body, we recommend a vegan diet. The vegan diet is free of GMOs, animal byproducts, processed foods, and other toxins that contribute to health issues. You will literally be on a live food/plant based diet.

  • Coffee Enema – We recommend coffee enemas 4 times a day throughout your detox period. Coffee enemas are a primary ingredient for detoxing the liver/tissues and blood stream.

Detoxing your body is a strict, disciplined process, and may even get slightly overwhelming.
