Dressing as Florence Nightingale at 5 years old, Laurie’s passion for health and wellness began at a very tender age. Following through with volunteering as a candy striper at 14, and working in a hospital while putting herself through nursing school, Laurie graduated and became an RN in 1991, currently holding licenses in multiple US states. She has a medical/surgical background as well as experience in dialysis, geriatrics, allergy, and even spent a short time in oncology, mixing and administering chemotherapy.
This was a good start she says, but she felt that nursing only sequestered her passion to care for people rather than satisfy it.
Married to a wonderful and supportive man, she has 2 beautiful children, each of them with special needs. Searching doctor after doctor to help enhance their qualities of life without any more than tiny successes, she found health care alternatives that not only acknowledged her children as whole beings rather than parts, but were also more effective. While researching, learning and practicing health care alternatives, Laurie then decided to include formal holistic education and graduated Summa Cum Laude from Everglades University, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Alternative Medicine in 2011.
Always continuing to learn and to thrive, she has earned certifications as a Truly Heal Health Coach and an Applied Microscope and Nutrition Technologist. She also holds certifications as a Gluten Practitioner, Reiki Master, a Laughter Yoga Leader, and is a Peggy Huddleston’s Prepare for Surgery Heal Faster Workshop facilitator.
Laurie believes that every person’s soul and body are unique and that their health promotion program requires the same individuality. She states “We are whole beings not just a ‘broken leg’, ‘metabolic disease’ or ‘cancer patient’ which should be addressed, treated and healed as such, with a program including physical, emotional, spiritual and psychological considerations,” which is what makes Laurie and the Natural Healing Center such a great fit!
Her goals are to help others explore why we are what we eat, what we think, and what we surround ourselves with. By enlightening others with information about alternative modalities and western medicine principles, she helps others to experience how even minor changes can make big differences in their own levels of health, the health and wellness of the human population and of the earth.
“Somehow we are conditioned to believe that good health is something that ‘happens’ to us rather than something we create”, she says, and she is eager to help you discover how much power YOU truly have in guiding your personal healthcare and wellness goals.
