Genotype diet is a diet that consist of foods that are relevant to one’s genotype. Though certain foods may be healthy for some, they may not be so healthy for others. Your blood type and genetic make-up holds the menu to the diet you’re suppose consume. Learning your genotype will serve you this menu.
Dr. Peter D’Adamo discovered the Genotype Diet in 2007, after his discovery of the relationship between diet, health, and blood-types. Dr. D’Adamo said “We can’t do anything about which chromosomes we got from our parents; we can’t add new genes to the mix or eradicate old ones. But the genes we get at conception are only the beginning of the story. We have the capacity to turn up the volume on some genes and silence others, vastly improving our capacity for health and happiness.”
Our genetic material and its prenatal responses are called a GenoType. It reflects both genetics and epigenetics (the interaction between your genes and the environment). Your genes and your first nine months in womb combine to create your GenoType. There are six GenoTypes.
“The GenoType Diet,” classifies people into six “genotypes”. Dieters undergo a rigorous personal analysis that relies not only on blood type, but also on physical and personal characteristics such as jaw angle, family history, etc. D’Adamo theorizes that certain diets and lifestyles are healthier for specific genotypes allowing them to “turn on the good genes and shut down the bad ones.”
According to D’Adamo, people fit within one of these six genotypes: hunter, gatherer, teacher, explorer, warrior or nomad; each of which have distinguishing physical characteristics, personalities and susceptibilities to various diseases and medical problems.

The Explorer Muscular and adventurous, the Explorer is a biological problem solver, with an impressive ability to adapt to environmental changes, and a better than average capacity for gene repair. The Explorer’s vulnerability to hormonal imbalances and chemical sensitivities can be overcome with a balanced diet and lifestyle.
The Warrior Long, lean, and healthy in youth, the Warrior is subject to a bodily rebellion in midlife. With the optimal diet and lifestyle, the Warrior can overcome the quick-aging metabolic genes and experience a second, “silver,” age of health.
The Nomad A GenoType of extremes, with a great sensitivity to environmental conditions especially changes in altitude and barometric pressure, the Nomad is vulnerable to neuromuscular and immune problems. Yet a well-conditioned Nomad has the enviable gift of controlling caloric intake and aging gracefully.
