{"id":1545,"date":"2015-03-27T12:24:29","date_gmt":"2015-03-27T16:24:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/naturalhealingcentermb.com\/articles\/?p=1545"},"modified":"2015-03-27T15:24:28","modified_gmt":"2015-03-27T19:24:28","slug":"dr-dong-a-triathlon-althlete","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/naturalhealingcentermb.com\/articles\/2015\/03\/27\/dr-dong-a-triathlon-althlete\/","title":{"rendered":"Dr. Dong &#8211; A Triathlon Althlete"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong><em>Did you know that Dr. Dong has been a\u00a0triathlon athlete for over 5 years?\u00a0\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/h1>\n<h2><strong>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 How It All Started<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft  wp-image-1546\" src=\"http:\/\/naturalhealingcentermb.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/DSC_0005-for-web.jpg\" alt=\"Dr. Dong\" width=\"271\" height=\"401\" \/>I had a chance to catch up with Dr. Dong to ask her about the running and exercises\u00a0she does on a daily basis and would like to share her answers with\u00a0you. \u00a0Dr. Dong has always set goals for herself, as she\u00a0practice what she teaches to others. \u00a0When she turned 50, she decided that she needed to start exercising. \u00a0She\u00a0stated that she first\u00a0started doing\u00a0triathlon, which is a series of swimming, cycling, and running. Running, she said, was not one of her favorites, but she knew\u00a0that she needed the stimulation. \u00a0Despite her dislike for running, she said\u00a0she did very well\u00a0in completing her first triathlon<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Her First Marathon<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>That following winter, after completing her first triathlon, was difficult for her to ride &#8212; it was too cold, so some of her friends introduced her to a boot camp, where they ran 3 to 4 miles, 3 days a week. \u00a0In the beginning, she took small steps, running first, the 5K,\u00a010K, then\u00a0on up to the half marathon. \u00a0As she moved up, she set a new goal to run the full marathon when she turned 55. \u00a0Preparing\u00a0for the full marathon,\u00a0Dr. Dong ran\u00a02 or 3 half marathons every year, while also running the 5 and 10K every chance she got. \u00a0At that point, she had\u00a0become\u00a0accustomed to running every day.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Her Completed Milestone<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>This past February, Dr. Dong accomplished her first\u00a0full marathon, (The Myrtle Beach Marathon), in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and is now training to run the Great Wall Half Marathon. \u00a0Dr. Dong stated that her main goal is simply\u00a0finishing because she is not a very fast runner. \u00a0She also stated that her past two years of running has contributed greatly to her health &#8212; she hasn&#8217;t been sick at all, has a whole lot more energy, and she feels her muscles getting stronger as a result. \u00a0Even more, she has been able to manage\u00a0her weight. \u00a0She said before she started 5 years ago, she was at a 135 to 140 pounds, and now she is down to 120 to 125. \u00a0She feels great and not a year older.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Nutrition and Supplementation\u00a0&#8211;\u00a0A Key Factor<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Dr. Dong stated that her training\u00a0has made her muscles and joints stronger, but she\u00a0also incorporates nutrition and supplements in her\u00a0regimen. \u00a0She stated that incorporating\u00a0supplements helps strengthen\u00a0and protect her immune system,\u00a0bones, muscles, and joints, leaving her pain free. She appended that her family has been concerned that she could hurt herself, \u00a0but she trusts by supplementing, her muscles and joints will be protected from damage.
